Thread: Best Vegas format?

  1. Default Best Vegas format?

    Hi,

I need to import some video clips off IStockphoto for a larger project and just wondered if anyone had any experience of which format is best to import into Vegas.

The options are Quicktime/ MP4 and WMV. I'm guessing for editing purposes Quicktime is numero uno but does Vegas support this format for import OK?

    Cheers

    Errr... none of the above.

They are all delivery codecs, not editing codecs, yes even q time, it most certainly isnt numero uno for editing,

When you are buying stock footage you should get the raw file from the camera free of extra compression.

Having said that my vegas on my system can edit all of the above.

Thanks Mark - I didn't know there was an option to get a raw file from istockphoto so I'll have to look into that.

Surely though, if this isn't an option, the stock library should offer a format (such as Quick) which edits perfectly for a web use video? Your reply has made me feel nervous about buying the footage at all. Are there quality problems that you know of when editing a stock video into a piece of film?
