    Default google ads

Unlikley i know, but is there anyway i can stop the two "adds by google" boxs displaying at the top of every page. i know maybe its a necessary evil but it makes the page look far too busy.

    Sorry, no.

If Marc wasnt able to gather some revenue to partly offset the considerable costs of hosting the site, we wouldnt have a (free) and cool site to access.

For such a great service this site runs, I am happy for it to have google ad's.

I would hate to think how much time is chewed up in keeping this site together, I have seen some sits so covered in ad's you cant find the content, so think yourself lucky there is only minimal advertising here.
I know nothing about youtube, even less about video

Yes, and some places have animated adds which on my connection makes the pages take ages to load, and they eat processing power, so this is nothing really, never even thought about them being a problem.

I guess I could look into disabling them for users in return for a small donation / subscription. Problem is, people started complaining when I asked for donations, so the banner ads stayed.

Why moan about a couple of banner ads that are doing no harm at all? How trivial can you get?

    It's fine as it is!!

I must be so used to web/forums it's worrying. When I read the OP my immediate reaction was "waht ads?" I clearly just filter them out.
