Default XP and Apple to transferring video

I did a 2 camera shot with a friend with a Sony HDV 1920x1080i, he had the video on his Apple in a program called Imovie, I took a 500GB USB external HDD which I had partitioned half off as FAT32, on this I had put my video from a Canon HF10, 1920x1080i, MTS files and some I had re-encoded to 1920x1440 HDV extention m2t, but no matter how we tried the Imovie would not high light any of my files to move them over to the Apple computer, so we thought we would transfer his mov files to my HDD and I would edit them on my Windows XP computer, the only way we found was to render a piece of his time line to my HDD. this worked out at something like 10secs of video in 5mins, so not much use for 1 hour of video, we could not find the original mov files even when we did a search, so could some one please tell me how to extract the mov files from an Apple computer, so I can put them on an external HDD. thanks

Glad you sorted it - this is probably an issue cos fat 32 can only handle 4 gig files - I think...

Hi Mark, I've swapped a firewire card from my old computer, so we are going to download the HDV from his camera to my computer and then convert my AVCHD footage to HDV and upload it onto his camera, if sods law doesn't trough a spanner in the works.
