    Default Difficulty transferring video

My old Sony DCR-TVR20E has a problem. The DV in/out no longer works. I have a lot of stuff on tape that I would like to transfer onto my computer for editing and eventually to DVD. I have tried transferring from the camcorder to my DVD recorder via s-video and then burning to DVD RAM but my computer does not recognise the files on the DVD. (The DVD writer is OK for DVD-RAM) I've bought a new Camcorder (HDD model) but I would like to transfer all my tapes to the computer. Any help would be gratefully received.

Have a look on ebay for a cheap and working (most importantly) mini dv camcorder with a firewire or ilink out socket. Put your tapes into it, connect it to the computer and start the capture process. This is probably the best way to go.
