    Default Alpha Channel Question

    Hi folks,
I've got a .tif image with stored alpha channel but I want some white lines on the image to show, as opposed to them being transparent. Obviously the default for transparency is any RGB value of 255 (White), but is there another way that I can define a specific area to be transparent as opposed to the RGB value.

The example on the .tif that I'm trying to get to work involves a colour background with white outlined text and inside the text is black (which is the bit I want to be transparent and show the track below). At the moment, when I bring it into Vegas, it's the white outline that is transparent, irrespective of whatever area I save as the alpha channel in P-shop.

    Cheers

    John

1] Try Chroma keying out the colour

    or . .

2] Create a PNG and select the trannie colour. I use PSP, so I can't advise on PS , but I have great succcess with PNGs.

I would use Grazie's second suggestion - Paintshop Pro will convert and save to .PNG perfectly.

Cheers guys, both methods worked. I couldn't get the PNG to save the transparent area in PSP 6 but it saved it ok in P-shop.

You have to flatten VISIBLE layers. (Layers - Flatten - Visible) Then save as png.
