Default CAN YOU play 2 videos at the same time???

ok i'll explain what I'm trying to do as an example.

say i've filmed a boy standing there on the left of the screen..

2nd video is of a girl but on the right of the screen...

i want to make both videos 50% transparent so that i can play them both at the same time and see the boy on the left and the girl on the right.. ya get me??

    is it possible?

It's rather easy to do actually - depending on what software you propose to use. What do you have?

it's doable... but it's not transparency that helps doing it...
u should put the videos one on top of the other, and then crop 50% of the video on top... that should do it...
    good luck...

If You use Premiere, put one video on video track 1 and the other video on video track 2. When watching this, only the video on track 2 should be visible (since it is "on top" of the other video clip). It usually works the same way in other programs, but I use Premiere so...

One way to get the video on track 1 visible is to make the video on track 2 semi-transparent (right click on the video on track 2, and select option|transparency if memory serves me right). This will look a bit (<- understatement of the day) crappy and not really what You want I would guess.

Another option is to "cut away" the part of the video on track 2 that obscures the part of the video on track 1 You want to show. To do this, You look up a filter/effect called "crop" or something similar and apply this to the video on track 2, and then use the settings for this effect to cut away the half You don't want to see.

And dig out the manual(s) that came with the programs to get some further insight on how to find the settings/effects You need to get the job done... It might even explain how to "crop" a video before You resort to strong words on a forum

I was actually having a similar problem. I use iMovie '8 and I've been told that it has terrible effects.. I want to know if there is any way I can do this on there? Because it doesn't seem it.. (this is the iMovie that came on my MacBook when I bought it.. I have not upgraded since then) I also, just bought Final Cut Express 4 but I'm lost in that program. How would I do the same thing in FCE? And do any of you know of any good video tutorials for Final Cut Express 4?

    IMHO...avoid Imove like the plauge.

Spend time learning how to use final cut...you won't regret it!
