Hi. Apologies if this seems really basic. I've read loads of stuff and am now confused!
I have just bought a panasonic HDC-SD9 and am recording at max resolution, i.e. 1920 x 1080 in AVCHD. This is what I want to do:
1.copy the recordings to my PC and cut out a few unwanted bits.
2.save the results without any loss of quality. It does not need to be copied to a DVD, playback on the PC is fine.
Maybe I will want to add the odd still picture and a background track.
I have no interest in fancy transitions, titles etc.
The key thing is to not loose the quality (otherwise why bother with a camera of this resolution in the first place?) and for it to be as easy as possible to use.
Is something like Sony Vegas platinum ok or not? I have read conflicting things about whether it will output this quality. If so, v8 or 9?
I wondered about this:

You help would be much appreciated.
