Thread: Laggy interface with certain files only

  1. Question Laggy interface with certain file only

I wonder if you recognize this synthom overall

In me case i have a small Fraps recorded video (avi) who are slowing down vegas extremley mutch as soon as its loading into the workingfield
(no thats not typical for fraps recordings and vegas in my previous experiences)

anyway, it means that if i press any mediaplayer button it will lagg
if i press splitt that procces laggs in 10 sec before release, and after that it doesnt even have energy to frame-update the preview window segment i sepparated, so i get laggy still-pictures , but the leftover part will float- preview normal for some odd reason

Its only 1 file who generate this in vegas on my entire computer, perhaps i shall reinstall Vegas 7? and re-test
cause i have allready mixtured with installing other codec combinations, but it seem to be out of the question

I doubt re installing will help. My guess is that the file is a weird one.

Fraps users tend to record thier videos at insanely high resoloutions - this can slow vegas. Recors at a sensible res - like sd dv res and all whould be well and your videos will lokk the same when compressed.

Aha, to bad for me it a long procces to get back to the ingame place
but my plane is to simply re-do it, and test

cause..i didnt understand what you meaned here?

Record the frmae grabs at a 'normal' video res - like 640 / 480. They will edit smoother and after rendering and compression they will look the same as something at high res when compressed to the same bit rate on you tube / vimeo ect.

You can't change resolution in Fraps, but i guess i can simply render it out in tube-resolution in Vegas, and after that re-input it and start edit

    good idea, thanks

Soz - 'playing' - my rubbish typing !

I was suggesting playing and capturing at a lower res.

Dont worry, i understood what you said, but i just didnt understand what it meaned my rubbish english somethimes

But i got it finally, lower the ingame resolution, well im playing in 1280x1024 and enjoy it
and i can confirm that render it out in less res MPG and then reload and edit in Vegas did remove the lagg issue
so what ever of the two options i will choose in future is marked as solved i think

    thank you
