Default Converting a lot of DV - where are they stored?

    Hi,
This is probably a silly question, but I need to capture a lot of DV tape, about 8 hours worth. When I do a "video capture", is there a place I can get to the AVI file after it is captured instead of having to render it and waste all that time?

I have looked at the preferences and set a new folder, but no video files show up there.

If there is an easier way to get the DV tapes directly to files using Vegas, I'd appreciate knowing how.

    Thanks

When I capture, using the VidCap.exe program, that is part of the Vegas install, I get exactly what you are asking for. VidCap.exe is purely a video capture to hard disc utility. You setup what and where you want your video to be captured to: HD/Folder etc . .and that's about it?

There is absolutely no need to bring into Vegas and then render?

Another 3rd party one is Scenalyzer.

IMO, you appear to be making this more complicated than needed.

    Grazie

    Hi,
That's the same program that opens when you select "Capture Video" in Vegas, but I didn't see it had it's own preferences. I found the place to change the location of the files and it seems to work great now. Except the files are huge of course...

Thanks for your help. And yes, my way was complicated and I assuemd there had to be a place where the files were being saved...
