Default Converting .AVI file for Vegas and DVD

Hi - I am using a Jazz 178 camcorder. The movie file format from the Jazz is AVI (H.264). Movie was shot using HD mode which is 1280x720 pixels, 30fps.

Question: What format do I convert the original files to for use in Sony Vegas (7) and then on to a DVD?

Kinda new at this so have patience...

Have you tried dragging files to t line - vegas is tolerant of weird video files so it might work.

Failing that I suggest using 'super c' ( free) to convert to something vegas likes - suggest dv std res.
