Default how to construct a kvcd....?

After reading alot of promising things about kvcd's and there ability to compress a full movie onto a cdr i am keen to progress further but it is a minefield.
Could anyone advise on the best set of software needed to create this format...
several I have seen reccommended are.....
    tmpgenc
    besweet
    virtual dub etc etc..
I have a film that is 700Mb long in its AVI format and i would like to create an kvcd with it...
    thanks steve

Gonna cop out here and suggest you head on over the the kvcd forums (www.kvcd.net). At the very least, you'll need the templates from there It's then just a matter of using these in TMPGenc, creating the MPEG, and then burning as a normal VCD. But as I say, there are a thousand and one guides at www.kvcd.net and you can post in their forums.

If you run into trouble, I'll translate any geek speak.

    Thanks marc...
I have begun to convert an avi film i have...
i used g-spot to check all the relevant details of my file source and then started to use virtual dub that i beleive will split the source into audio & video....the problem their is i get the message......
couldn't locate decompressor for DIVX (div x 4+) etc etc....
Direct show codecs as used by WMP are not suitable.
so could you translate that for me please.
    thanks steve denton

You need to use tmpgenc to convert to MPEG (virtualDub "does" AVI)

Yep. You need to convert your original AVI to MPEG using a KVCD template in TMPGenc.

Once you've got your MPEG, it's time to use something like NERO to burn the CD. In Nero, there is a VCD wizard, use this.
