Total rookie and self proclaimed idiot to computers in general here. I'm not too proud to admit that up front!!!
I am forum savy though... I did a couple searches along the lines of what I've been googling all day trying to answer my question before bugging you guys but came up empty handed.
So that said, I'm looking to do what I'm hoping is a couple basic things and am also hoping there's some freeware out there to help me cause I really don't have that much interest to buy crazy software. I mean, I don't even own a home computer if that gives you an idea. I'll be doing this after hours on my work box.
So that said, here's what I've got going. I recently purchased a helmet camera that records to a digital box containing a 2 gig memory card. I can play to the TV so I could always do this old school and just record a VHS tape but who even really still has a VHS machine right? The recorder produces a .ASF file. I've got a viewer on my computer to watch it which is cool but I'd like to be able to upload to youtube or something similar. So....
I'm looking to...
- Convert .ASF to .WMV
- do simple editing, cut out the boring parts
- cut a hour long .WMV converted video into a bunch of 10 minutes clips
- maybe throw some music over the video but this isn't a priority
Any advice on basic programs to handle this?
Is there a webpage that will let me upload a .ASF file of unlimited size???
