Thread: Up to video editing?

    Default Up to video editing?

    Looking into getting a lap top. Would this spec be up to video editing ? more specifically running Adobe premiere elements 4.

    Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 / 2 GHz ( Dual-Core )
    RAM - 2 GB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR II SDRAM ( 2 x 1 GB )
    Hard Drive - 160 GB - Serial ATA-150
    Operating System - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
    Screen - 15.4' TFT 1280 x 800 ( WXGA ) - 24-bit (16.7 million colours)
    Optical Drive - DVD±RW (+R double layer) / DVD-RAM - integrated
    Graphics - ATI Mobility Radeon X2500 HyperMemory up to 1GB - 256 MB

    It should do it as long as it's SD video you are working with. Personally I would have liked a faster processor but with a dual core you should have enough, just don't expect lightning speed if you use a lot of effects and transitions in your videos. The 160GB Hard Drive may fill up very quickly aswell and you will need an external drive so you can free up space on the 160, if you plan to do a lot of work.

    well it's enough for basic editing (not too complicated, or too large projects).
    i suggest u install xp instead of vista if u intend to use it for editing, cause vista by itself uses lots of ram and for editing u needs almost every bit available.

    Thanks fellas. Still undecided about this, my budget really wont stretch beyond £500. any more sugestions around this price ?
