    Default Vegas video size

When you chose the video size vegas 8 platinum, as the default, has the size set to 720x576x32. Once rendered and burned to DVD will this fill a TV screen either standard 4:3 or 16:9?

Yes. Both 16:6 and 4:3 have the same no of pixels. It's the pixel aspect ratio (the shape of the actual pixels themselves) that differs between widescreen and standard.
It's recommended you render using the one of the "DVD Architect" templates to ensure the correct bits are set.
