    Default reducing capture file sizes???

    HI All,

I am really new to this and struggling. My problem is that the when I have captured video the file size is huge 1.5gb for just 6 mins. Is there anyway to get the size abit more realistic as I don't have a massive hard disk

    Thanks

    Martin

No. That's how big the files are - about 13GB per hour for Standard Definition DV. This is nothing to do with the software - it's the format.

Once you've got it on your computer you can then render it in different formats each of which will give your different sizes - this is how you can fit 2hours on a 4.7GB DVD.

But digital video editing requires loads of disk space.

My advice - buy a second hard drive (say 500GB), leave all your system an applications on your current disk and capture and edit to the new one. It's always more efficient to keep the data on a different disk.
