    Default Monitoring external mic

Panasonic HDC-SD1 has a microphone socket but no headphone socket.
How can I monitor (using headphones) the sound?
I imagined a 'box' (possibly amplifier) with one input from mic, one output to phones and one output to camcorder.
I've asked all our local techies - even Panasonic and Maplin - but no solution.

i have found that sticking a mono to stereo mini jack converter in the yellow socket gives audio on headphones . so the mono plug of the converter goes into the yellow socket and stereo headphones go into the stereo socket of the converter, when i say converter im meaning one of those like 3.5mm to 1/4 inch that come with headphones but the one im useing is 3.5mm mono to 3.5mm stereo, i got mine from CPC Farnel

Can't spot a 'yellow socket' - must have been missed in manufacture

Perhaps GEA may be describing a mixer.

For example, this one has 2 inputs (e.g. 2 mics) and 2 outputs; and a separate headphone output. This particular one needs a 12v power supply, and it is not clear whether the 2 outputs contain the same single 'mixed' mono sound, or 2 separate mono signals.

Yes - this appears to fill the breech - I think.
Thank you - I wonder why few other folk knew the answer?
