Question Is my PC up to scratch for vid editing? Here's the spec:

Hi all, after having problems with After Effects crashing everytime I go to import a file, and Sony Vegas not able to render to RAM enough for smooth editing playback, I am wondering if I have got an adequate PC at present:

Here's what I have got under the hood:

Windows XP Professional service pack 5.1
Processor: Intel Celeron D CPU 3.06GHz
    Memory: 1.5 Gigs
    Direct X 9.0c
Graphics card: Intel G965 (CHIP TYPE: GMA 3000)
    Display size: 1024x768

Is this enough for these programs? I can't tell from Adobe support, but seems not too far off?

I'd really appreciate your advice. I don't want to do and do loads of upgrades if I find out the same problems still exist after upgrading!

    Cheers all,

    Nick

    We generally advise against celerons.

Vegas should be ok - I used vegas years ago with an amd xp1700 and it was ok, but forget HDV editing.

As for a effects I dont think it will work with a celeron cos it does not have the required sse3 instructions ( i think ).

thanks, I thought as much. But would an inadequate processor be a cause to crash the program?

Windows XP Professional service pack 5.1? Are you referring to Service Pack 1, 2 or 3 as I don't think Microsoft made a Service Pack 5.1.
