Thread: Best recording formats?

    Default Best recording formats?

I'm looking to buy a camcorder that can do time code synchronisation for multiple cameras.

What format is best? Second best? etc?

Price wise most of the cameras I look at seem to use miniDV. Is this good? ok? bad? Or should I fork out a bit more, and get a hard drive camcorder? or a DVD recording camcorder? Or something else?

In my opinion, miniDV is still the best format for recording digital media onto in this sense. HD cameras are nice but only really if you want to point and shoot & my experience of DVD cameras is that the quality is not always what you'd expect. If you get a camera that can record in DVcam then that's even better as it is a much more robust version of miniDV //
