Default newbies wants wmv to DVD

    Hi,

I have been creating a DVD (I hope!) for my mother's 80th birthday. This is the first time I have ever done this... and had no idea what I was getting into, and have really enjoyed all that I have learned. However, I started 2 months ago and have one day left, and would love advice ....I am so grateful to have come across your site!

I have created 12 wmv files, which total about 45 minutes, maybe an hour. I would like to create a DVD that she can play on her VCR.

    so here are my circumstances
My computer does not burn DVD, so I have to take it to the library to burn it using a Mac. They have fairly new software programs.
I have a flash drive which has plenty of room, for transporting.
From what I have seen so far, the Mac does not recognize the wmv format...though I am not at all familiar with Mac.
I would love this to play as one not stop movie, with no chapters.

Thank you so much for your help!

First you can easily buy a dvdburner to your computer they are really cheap .
Second what format was your footage originally ?
If it was not wmv why did you converted it this way ?
third the computer at your school should have a burner software so use it, if it has nero good that's the one to go for .

    Default thanks

Hi Thanks for your quick reply...

I am hoping to get a new computer, so have been putting off buying the DVD burner.

I am combining old family photos, which are jpg, some background music, I think it is all mps, and some old clips from movies/history, which were important to my mom. I have created it all in Windows Movie Maker, and it saves the movie as .wmv files.

Thanks for the nero suggestion. I don't know what they have yet.

I have 13 files which I would like to play continuously. How would I do that? Is there a program I need to use...or is that what nero would do?

Thanks so much for your help.

It is possible doing it just by using nero, if it has nerovision or it is nero 8 you can do a picture slide and add music and transitions to it and then burn it to dvd, so forget about the wvm files . Or just go back to your project and export it to mpg2 or avi and then use nero just to burn it .

    Hi,

    I do not see nero.

Can I save the movie file and then convert it to avi?

Or, how do I export it to mpg2?

    Thanks again

Export it to mpg2 and then burn it, but using nero, or any other software that will convert your footage to be readable by your player, if you don't have nero it's hard to help you cause i don't know what software you have there .

Sorry, I don't know what it means to export it to mpg2. I am VERY newbie...

Is that the same as converting the wmv to mpg2?

Ok let's go to movimaker , open your project now choose File->Save movie file
    choose my computer and next
Choose your location and the name for the file and next
    Now choose show more choices
    then other settings
    and then choose dv-avi .

Please dig up a little more by yourself, I've never used movie maker it's my first time and I could find it by playing around with it .

Now you have your avi file but you will need nero or a software like adobe encore to make your dvd .
