    Default AVS Video Converter 5.6

    Hi,
Just purchased the above. Trying to convert .m4v files to play in my DVD player (in PAL format).
Tried 3 different files and they all get stuck on 8 mins +/- 10 seconds!!
If I "push" the DVD player at x32, it hits the 8 mins, pauses and then jumps past and the rest of the DVD(s) plays normally.

Anyone got any ideas what the issue may be?
    thx very much,
    JB

Sounds like the bitrate used for that particular section could be too high for yoru player to handle. Might be worth trying to re-encode using a constant bitrate, or lowering the maximum variable bitrate.

    Default Output Bit Rate

    Thx Marc
The original video bit rate is 1504kbps for the .M4v file. So what should be used for the optimal Output File bitrate considering this is to be viewed on a normal DVD player to a 42" plasma screen?

The maximum bitrate within the DVD standard is 9.8Mb/s. That's both audio and video. However, to make sure you're well within the allowable limit and DVDs are happy to play it, put the maximum at around 7Mb/s. As a test, it's proabably worth going much lower than this, and then crank the bitrate back up again if it plays ok. Obviouslty if it doesn't play, then we're barking up the wrong tree.

As an aside, you should be able to get good rsulst with the lower bitrates, with the usual caveat of displaying it on a huge tv! Note also that the source bitrate has no bearing on the destination bitrate.
