I posted a similar thread in the PPro forums but got no reply, so I thought I would widen the net...

I have been using the "deinterlace smooth" (bob+weave) filter for vdub and avisynth for years to get double frame rate footage from an interlaced source (eg 50FPS from PAL DV) to give me super smooth slowmos. However I am getting a bit wound up with the hassle. If I have a clip in the timeline and decide I want to do a smooth slowmo, I have to either render out a 50FPS version in vdub or use an avisynth script and the avs plugin to frameserve from avisynth to ppro. Either way, I cannot just slow down the existing clip and have it all happen transparently. Not a huge issue with short takes but if you have long takes with multiple clips you want to use like I do, it's a pain in the ass.

Surely one of the NLEs can do the bob+weave deinterlace internally as and when required? Please advise!
