Default Analog video to pc without DV?

    Hello all,
I have a Pyro that takes analog inputs and makes dv outputs to import into the computer. This is fine for 99% of my tasks, but I'm wanting to shoot on a green screen and DV really kills the color channels using the 4:1:1 compression ratio.

I've tried the Spill supressors and matt chokers but still get a halo around the characters, and I don't hava a rotoscoping software.

Is there a way to get analog footage off an analog source without having to use FireWire? TV stations had to have used something for the weather guys before firewire.

    Suggestions?
    Thanks all.
    Patrick

In this case DV (or more to the point, firewire) should be the physical transport mechanism for your data, and not a DV codec. To put that another way, the firewire cable is merely the connection between your analogue source and your PC. Your analogue to digital convertor should have the option to encode to a variety of lossless codecs such as HuffyUV HuffYUV. If that is not the case and you are limited to a DV codec only, then I would suggest that you try an alternate software for your capture. You should be able to use your Pyro with iuvcr www.iulabs.com - iuVCR >> Overview
