Thread: Camcoder lens cleaning fluid?

  1. #1

    Default Camcoder lens cleaning fluid?

Could somebody recommend a lens cleaning product for my Sony VX2100E?

Searching google I've only found camera cleaning products but not specifically camcorder lens cleaning products.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

I wouldn't go spraying or dabbing any liquids on a lens unless it is specifically for that purpose. Lens tissues or a lens cleaning cloth are better. Jessops used to sell a lens cleaning pen (had a large flat brush at one end) so check their website to see if they still stock it. You'd position the pen in the centre of the lens and work your way out to the edges in a circular motion so as not to scratch it. It could also be used for cleaning smudges off camcorder lcd screens.

Thanks for the speedy response. Should be paying you.

There's lots of little "spots" on the camcorder lens. Looks dirty but not dusty.

    I'll look up Jessops.

Jessops - Lens Cleaner Fluid 30ml << But that's cleaning fluid.

Jessops Optical Cleaning Cloth - Jessops <<< They don't say specifically for camcorders though.

The optical cleaning cloth should do the job. Just remember to start in the centre of the lens and in small circular movements move towards the outside. I haven't been on Jessops website, do they still sell the lens cleaning pen I mentioned earlier? I liked that device, the thing about it was you could keep it clean with the cover whereas a cloth tends to pick up dirt sooner or later if left lying about. Most chemists should sell lens tissues and lens cleaning cloths aswell, especially if they also sell glasses or binoculars.

    Jessops - Lens Cleaning Pen

There's the pen. I emailed them and they said the cloth would do fine. I'll go for that.

    Thanks for the advice.
