    Default XM2 Sound Quality

    Hi,
I would like to use a external mic for the XM2 using the RCA plugs, does this produce good sound quality, if so, what leads do I buy and where from.
    Thanks, Baz

DV cameras record sound very well - uncompressed 48khz 16 bit.

Are you using line level or mic level - check the XM can accept the input you are using to the RCAs - sometiems the mic input is a mini stereo jack - not sure on the XM.

Mini Stereo jack. Unless you buy an XLR convertor. I got the Beechtek - love it! I started with the Canon MA300. The MA goes straight into the hotshoe and "cuckoo-like" takes roost. If I'd known better I would have jumped to the Beechie instead. And from there it IS a mini stereo jack anyway.

Beectek stuff is cool - if a little pricey for many.
