  1. Default I need to convert .mp4 to a format I can edit in Premiere Pro!

    Hi.

I've got a Nokia .mp4 mobile phone and I have shot some really cool video's with its video recorder. The video clips are all .mp4 and Premiere will not recognise the file format. Does anybody know of some FREE software that will convert a .m4 to a Premiere Pro compatable format??

Do a search for a program called "Super" it's free and may do the job.

Try MPEG_Streamclip1.2 from Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows as it will let you open the mp4 file and then convert it to DV-AVI using the Apple DV Encoder. Firstly, download QuickTimeAlt1.81 and install and run it as it has the necessary codecs needed to make MPEG_Streamclip1.2 work.

I know some website that can convert video formats.
Zamzar - Free online file conversion
vixy.net : Online FLV Converter : Download online videos direct to PC / iPod / PSP. It's free!

But I have no chance to check them out that they work or not cas I've already purchased a video converter before I heard those websites. But it works fine.
You can check it out here.
iSkysoft Video Converter - M2TS Video Converter, Video Conversion Software

Handbrake maybe is your other choice. It's free. Just search google.

Thanks. I'm sure that wil solve my problem as soon as I figure out how to use it.

I'm sorry, I'm a total newbie. I tried several settings, created several files with terrible video quality. Then I tried ratcheting up the settings, and created a great file that was over 4 times the size of the original.

I'm not going to ask for a tutorial on video settings here, but perhaps you could give me a link to one that is already online? I just need any idea what format/settings to use to change my HD mp4s into standard def files that Premiere 3 can read.

    Tx.
