    Default DVD Ripping

I want to rip a section of a DVD. I use DVD2AVI but I want to know what is the best quality output. I don't want to have codecs as I want the file to play on a standalone PC. My filesize limit is 25mb. What is the best filetype output, retaining quality.

Erm, You will need codecs I'm afraid, that's how any video file works.

As this is a dubious subject, and you haven't said what and why you are ripping, That's as much as you're getting out of me for now.

Call it ripping or call it transcoding I'm not sure that you gain any quality by transcoding a standard def dvd from vob which is mpeg2 based file to avi.

I recall that you can get approx two hours of standard def mpeg2 video on a single layer dvd disc which I think translates to about 32meg per minute or thereabouts.

Need to know more about what you are working with and what you are trying to accomplish to be able to help,

If you've already ripped your dvd content then time length of your video will determine what type/video quality resolution file you can render it to with a limit of 25meg end result.
