Default How do I export footage?

How do I export video from Premiere Pro in to Encore. First I tried .AVI file but its huge. 5 minutes of footage = 5.7GB Whats wrong? Can you tell me which is the correct file format. Is there a way to send video directly to Encore from Premiere Pro? What I do is first exported as .AVI and takes a lot of time. Then imported in to Encore.

No need for an AVI. Just render a QT MOV at 29.97 FPS (If you're NTSC) and then you can transcode when you import into Encore.

If you do your final product in MOV, I highly recommend the H.264 codec. It takes what would be a 300-400 MB file down to 10-15 MB with no loss. All of our animated backgrounds have the H.264 codec.
