Thread: Rendering of xvid mpeg-4 files in Vegas 8.0

Default Rendering of xvid mpeg-4 files in Vegas 8.0

I've recently begun to use Vegas Pro 8.0 and am wondering if Vegas can render avi files that were previously compressed using the Xvid MPEG-4 codec. Whenever I've tried to render a file compressed using the codec the sound renders and the film effect renders but there is no actual footage. Just the film effect on black. Anyone have any idea whats going on?

The clip in question is after an uncompressed avi file which renders fine and an audio track that renders fine as well. Once the video reaches the compressed clip it goes black and only audio plays in the rendered file

I have been using vegas since v4 and I have never been able to get the vid part of an xvid to show on the timeline. I just transcode any xvids I may want to edit (very rare) into something else. I use super c.
