    Default Software to buy ???

I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times, but I just don't like even numbers... "Take 1,001"
If someone (like me) was going to get into Digital Filming, what editing software is the best ? I run Windows XP on a P4 2.8 Ghz PC.
Also, what do you recommend for a Digital Recorder(camera)?

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums.

Buying software depends to a large extent on your needs and budget: you wouldn't go out and buy an articulated lorry just to do the weekly shopping - not only would it cost you far in excess of what your needs justify, it would also take an age to learn how to drive!

The same could be said for buying Adobe Premiere and Adobe Encore to piece together a few edits and create a DVD. You could spend a fraction of the price on something like Pure Motion Edit Studio and/or DVD moviefactory, do exactly what you need and save on a steep learning curve.

For a few links to free trials, see the sticky in this section: http://www.videoforums.co.uk/ftopic548.html

    Thanks Marc...

I'll check those out... I'd like to get something that would allow me to make decent short videos. Then I could add Audio (Music) later to them. I have Cubase SX and Nuendo for Audio Production.

Then your choices are (roughly in order of price from highest): Avid Xpress DV with Mojo, Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 with DV Storm or Matrox TR.X100, Canopus Edius 2.5 with DV Storm, Pinnacle Liquid Edition Pro, Vegas 5.0, Ulead Media Studio Pro.

As to what;s the better. How long's a piece of string?
