Default Importing video from my Sony DCR-HC38E via USB 2.0

Hi I've been searching all over the net for a solution to this problem.

I followed all the steps explained in the supplied manuel word by word but when it came to connecting the USB cable nothing happened, the computer didn't do anything at all. So searched for new hardware manually and still nothing. What is the solution to this?

    Thanks in advance.

Took a look at the specs of your camcorder. It is a miniDV unit. You need a firewire connection to transfer this miniDV/digital video. Specs say your camcorder has a firewire output so you need a firewire input to your computer.

    USB2 does not transfer miniDV.

Your camcorder and/or dvd burner should have come bundled with software that will control capture by your PC to the hard drive.

One hour of miniDV content needs about 13gig of hard drive space so be sure you have plenty of drive space.

Also defragment your hard disk (if you haven't done so in a while) before you start to capture and disable any screensavers, antivirus software or any other software scheduled to run during the capture period. You can enable all of this again once the capturing is done.

I also find that staring at the screen, grinding my teeth and chanting 'om paddi paddi om' can help to stop dropped frames during capture.

I've also found waving a large hammer in front of the screen in a threatning way helps the whole process along quite well.
