    Default Gun Muzle Flashes??

Ok for one of my planned films include a gun (Airsoft NOT REAL) any idea on how to edit a simple muzzle flash effect to place over the muzzle in the final edit?

I would think the best way would be to do a single frame edit in something like photoshop or paintshop pro. Extract the best frame, edit then re-merge.

FYI, real guns have very little muzzle flash and that tends to be a dull orange (no point giving your position away.. troops hated using tracers in battle because of this too). Brilliant white flashes only happen with Hollywood blanks.

Just put a subtittle at the bottom saying "look, real guns don't make a flash, so I couldn't be bothered to spend the time making one just so that you could continue to believe the hollywood hype. Oh, and magazines also last a few seconds, not the entire legnth of the film. And you know when you shoot petrol? It doesn't explode."

    Default Marc

I gotta say Marc that has to be the best caption that I have seen and it does need to be in movies. In fact I may just steal it from you some time soon - it should appear right after the warnings on home video that stay on the screen for half an hour that no one has ever read, ever in history

oh and for all it is worth the Canadians do get the British sense of humour - and we couldn't invade anyone if we tried... unless of course the Americans let us come along for the boat ride
The tale of my death has been greatly exagerated
