Thread: Blue Ray DVD Authoring

    Default Blue Ray DVD Authoring

I will need very soon to author a Blue Ray (BD-DVD).
I have the BD writer and know that in some editing programs like Vegas you can write the movie directly to the disk but without authoring.

Does anyone know a good authoring software (PC not Mac) for Blue Ray? For instance something similar like DVD Architect.

I know Sony has one professional option and each license cost about $50K but I can not afford it.
    Any advice please?

No, it can not. Blue Ray menu is build very differently.
DVD Architect can not make any HD format. You will see that it can not be set for higher than standard resolution.

I would go for Adobe - I have not as yet authoring a BD_DVD (Blue Ray) but i have seen that it can be done, im sure it can.

Someone will correct me if im wrong.

Have a look at DVD burning software, DVD movie maker | Adobe Encore CS4 I have just had a look and it does, i knew it did.

I am only suggesting Adobe as i use it myself, i havent used dvd architect myself so dont know.

Sony dvd architect PRO 5.0 can do blu ray, with or without menus.
Sony vegas PRO 8 can also burn blu ray straight from the timeline.

Nero 9 claims it can author Bluray, and even includes HD menu items. I've been using Nero 8 and swear by it, but not to long ago I attempted to upgrade and had nothing but problems with Nero 9.

Nero 8 has AVCHD support, but not having a bluray burner (yet) I haven't done much authority of it. If money is tight though, I would suggest this family of products.

Hope you don't mind me sticking my ore in but I did a simulated blue-ray with authoring to a DVD that played on a PS3 using Video Studio Pro X2, not that I advocate PS3 as it was useless playing from the HDD, apparently OK if you are using NTSC.

Hi Mark it played the Blue-Ray DVDs I made fine, but I wanted to use the HDD to store my edited AVCHD videos, unfortunately there is some problem with the PAL playback from the HDD so I took it back, I found this on Google The Sony, Please add a Playstation 3 (Ps3) Blu-ray 25fps option to get rid of the jitter / judder on films. Petition it seems there are some issues with commercially produced Blue-Ray, in the end I went to the WD TV Media Player it's a bit flaky sometimes but at least it plays the MTS and h264 files without a problem
