Exclamation Too much gain in my video (please help)

    Hello all, I'm new here.
I'm editing a video that was shot on mini DV Canon Xl2
Apparently the gain was set to automatic. All the footage is super noisy. Is there a good plugin that will help with this problem or any helpful tricks anyone can suggest to take care of this?

    Please Help

A little bit of motion blurr is the trick I sometimes use, also a tiny bit of the median effect works.

I am unimpressed with bespoke denoisers like the vdub ones, they jus seem to make the noise 'bigger' and more 'crawly'.

I haven't used it myself but there's a Noise Dissolve filter in the Effects -> Video Filters -> Stylize category. You could try that.

That's my opinion. If you don't like it I have others

System: Apple Macbook Pro 17, and an external Freecom 500GB eSATA drive.
Software: Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 6, Motion 3, Soundtrack Pro 2, Color, DVD Studio Pro 4, Compressor 3), Sonicfire Pro 4.5
Favourite Resources:, Free DVD menus, Ken Stone's FCP Page, Wikivid
