Smile My entry for "The Good Life"

    Hi everyone,

Here's my entry for the competition. I set out filming this in August, and have been editing through September. It's the first film I've created through my new Pinnacle program, so I had to battle the elements to get it to work.

Here it is, currently on youtube: YouTube - The Good Life

They've squished the quality a bit, so I'll update the link when I can to get you a better version.

    What do you think?

That was excellent - very little to criticise, only piccy things really. The main thing is that the film really worked for me.

I susoect that may do rather well.... we shall see very soon.

I liked the tight edit to classical music, unusual, risky but it worked.

Thanks, it's always nice to get good feedback.
I'm glad to hear that it worked, it's difficult finding the right music for any film.

For non commercial work let limewire do the work - I wanted some wurlitzer music and some gameshow music the other day and found some no prob.

    That's a good point.
Although, I've been trying to find music that's definately copyright-free or royalty free. If there's a way to do this through LimeWire, that would be great.

If your work is non commercial I wouldnt be concerned.

Ages ago I inquired about paying for the rights to use a phillip glass piece - took me ages to get hold of and talk to the right person - turns out I could have a six month film festival license for 50 quid but she told me not to worry, so I didnt, and I dont, and niether should you.

Ok, well that's good to hear. I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

I was gonna do a cat video (I have 2 cats), but I left it too late, it's the deadline today, (unless they extend it).

Anyway; great video, & really cute cat. The music goes well with it too I think.

I think you'll find that the deadline is (fairly) relaxed.

The votes aren't due in until the end of the month so, if I were you, I'd enter anyway.

Yes, the judges are all flaky types - it'll take us a week or two to get our shit together I suspect.
