    Default Lens hire

Havent really researched this much - try the lazy
    way first...

I have been asked to do a pop vid that I will need a WA lens for. My question is is it possible for a non pro such as myself to hire a lens, and if so, how much (ish) per week?

I am talking about a std video lens that will fit my big jvc.

Hi MarK, if you go in unknown to a camera hire company they will normally need a deposit from you covering the cost of the equipment. Usually you open an account in advance with these companies and forego the need of a deposit. This link (with a Bristol depot) is perhaps worth looking at The Hire Company

You also need to be insured so the rental company can collect in case something happens, In the staes they want 1 million minimum coverage.

Yes - I got the insurance angle covered, both kit and public liability.

Just found this on e bay,
    Canon XL-6X (XL6X) HD Video Lens 6x XL 3.4-20.4mm L - W - eBay Batteries, Camcorder Accessories, Photography (end time 28-Sep-07 00:00:00 BST)

I presume that will not fit my jv dv5000?? Canon cam specific I guess.

I presume this will fit my jvc,

Canon Wide Angle TV Zoom Lens with Sony mount J8x6B3 - eBay Video, Professional Studio, Consumer Electronics (end time 22-Sep-07 16:58:33 BST)

Bugger me it's cheap and no bidders - in the danger zone cos I can just afford it if i dont replace my dishwasher and w machine, which is clearly what i 'should' do !!
