Thread: Question about Doing EDL on Premiere pro.

Default Question about Doing EDL on Premiere pro.

I captured whole bunch of shots hoping I can do my EDL. After I did all the Trimming I'm still getting the original Time code in and Time code out.
I am just wondering If it's possible to Get a new time code in and time code out every time I trim a shot ( I should be able to do that right?)

Please let me know if you know how to do so. Thanks in advance.

The EDL (edit decision list) is just a log of your actions whilst editing which can be used in another editing program to recreate your project from scratch, this is the basis of offline editing.

When you trim a clip in the preview window you dont change the original captured footage (or the time code) premier "remembers" your in out points to build the project.

If you export the EDL these changes will be logged, to recreate the project youll need the captured footage to be exactly the same in terms of In/Out points and filenames, which aint a problem if you export the capture log as part of the EDL (you just recapture automatically when you transfer the EDL to the next platform...Online edit).

If you just want to change the in/out point of your captured footage you need to trim it and then export the timeline, you now have new AVI (or whatever) files to the length you wanted- the original footage is unchanged.
