Default Second entry from Mark Watson

It was a sunny day, time for a Dolce Vita vox pop.

    This is the result.

I was hoping for some unhappy people to give the film some more contrast but I think the 'happy' treatment works ok - saved by the elderly lady at the end.

I threw in some cut aways cos I had the people to shoot some stuff with my small camera. I hope it looks good as I spent ages tweaking the look of shots.

Not deep, not challenging, just nice....

So far in the comp that one has my vote, it was very well done, and candid, I like candid. The bit a the end though ware it says "Zaskar Films" I felt was self promotion and an advert for you sevices... Just kidding. Very well done!!!

I don't think it's a winner in the 'Dolce Vita' cateorory Mark, but jesus, you're going to be aone helluva documenary filmmaker Mark if you can get a gripping plotline. Footage looks great with the shallow depth of field, what the hell did you film it with ?

    Thanks and lol.
Just i case anyones interested it was shot on my pro sd jcv with a small sony pc4 for the cutaways.

Sound was a mix of the handheld sm58 with a shotgun on the camera for a more live track, the sm58 track was strongly compressed. Contrast was increased in the edit and 'bump map' used to highlight people a small amount. The video was 'sharpened' a small amount.

Everything was shot with the lens wide open to get a shallow dof to highlight the subjects. Care was taken with lighting (natural) / positioning.

Shiner - didnt see you post when I posted the above - thanks for that, as for gripping plotlines, I have a few in gestation. As ever it comes down to resources, time and money.

Brilliant, I liked your choice for first and last subjects. I could watch it every morning to set up my day.

I have two thoughts. Did you look into the writers work for possible future projects and I wonder if you would get the same response filming on a not so nice weather day.

    Thanks,

    David.

Glad you spotted the deliberate first and last. It does appear that everyone who is out on a sunny day is happy - Rhianna also provoked a happy response. All shot in half a day so nothing chased up really.

Really nice vox-pops, pity that they all spoke with that funny accent.

Certainly upped the standard, hmm only twenty odd days to go...

i enjoyed this, but my only gripe was the music. I felt the soundtrack did not suit the subject at all. Apart from that, it was very good
