Thread: Re-insert tape

  1. Default Re-insert tape

Not sure if this is the right place to post this problem.
I have a Sony DCR-TRV480E Camcorder. I can record about 3/4 on casette tape and then it stops with message "re-insert tape" when I do it will not rewind forward or back and still get same message. If i rewind same tape on a Video 8 Rewinder and then try again no problem. This has happened on 2 tapes. Tapes are Hi8 MP90

I had a similar problem with a Hi 8 camcorder last year. But instead of it saying 'reinsert tape', it told me I had reached the end of the tape. One day while I was taking some shots of an old building, I was recording away, happy as Larry, and the next thing it just stopped. I looked in the viewfinder and it showed the end of tape indicator and it was only half ways through. And it also wouldn't rewind or fast forward. I had a second tape with me and I tried it and the same thing happened. I never did find out what went wrong but I got someone to look at the mechanism and he said there was nothing wrong with it. So I sold it and that was the end of it.
