Question Video shot in widescreen but isn't widescreen when captured

    Hi all,

I was trying to upload some video that was shot in wide screen but wasn't wide screen on capture.

I tried Movie Maker and Pinnacle Studio 10 but I think neither of those support wide screen; the weird thing is somehow my friend was somehow able to get Movie Maker to accept wide screen whereas my version of Movie Maker doesn't.

Any suggestions on how to get Movie Maker to accept wide screen?

Or do I need a different program?

I'm downloading the trial version of Adobe Premiere. Hopefully that will work..

Sorry is this for Movie Maker?

I'll assume it is but I just want to clarify.

    Thanks

Also, my friend's camera shoots wide screen, but my doesn't.

To upload wide screen video to my computer, does the camera I'm uploading from have to be able to shoot wide screen?

Put another way; does the ability to import wide screen depend on the camera's ability to shoot at wide screen or whether or not the editing program supports wide screen, or both?

Yes and no, its better if your camara has widescreen but if it dose not you can "smash it" to make it wide screen, it will make every one look short and fat, so keep that in mind.
