Thread: Is there an alternative to Windows Moviemaker?

  1. Default Is there an alternative to Windows Moviemaker?

    Hi all,

Back again for some words of wisdom from the forums - thx for all the help last time.

Ive come across a limitation in Moviemaker that I thought Id never need.

I have a collection of AVI files that are 1024x768 in res size that I want to append together into a short movie. However, the max size res for output is 720x something. If It try to add these files together they come blurry no matter how I try to export the movie.

    QUESTION
Is there another package out there that would allow the appending of these files at their current size
    - and
has similiar transition, audio and title editing capabilities?

    EDIT - Freeware if possible!

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

Of course, you could pay out for some editing programs, like Sony Vegas or Pinnacle Studio. But if you want something free, I would check on download.com, and if you want it for animation, there's a lot of animation programs on stopmotionanimation.com

I'm not advertising these websites, I'm just saying that they've been helpful to me and that they're good starting points.

Can't you just use something like AVI Joiner?
    Lloyd

That's my opinion. If you don't like it I have others

System: Apple Macbook Pro 17, and an external Freecom 500GB eSATA drive.
Software: Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 6, Motion 3, Soundtrack Pro 2, Color, DVD Studio Pro 4, Compressor 3), Sonicfire Pro 4.5
Favourite Resources: Findsounds.com, Free DVD menus, Ken Stone's FCP Page, Wikivid

Thanks Ive already scouted downloader.com and havent found anything of real use. AVI joiner might be a good candidate. If anything I just need the ability to add transitions, events to videos, smooth over audio and reduce video as well as joining it together for compiling.

Thx. If nothing works out ....

    I'll be back!
