Thread: Effectslab Pro

    Default Effectslab Pro

I very recently bought Effectslab Pro to use along side Elements 3.0.

Attempted to add some muzzle flashes to some footage for practise, but couldn't even import the footage from Elements to Effectslab Pro.

The wee booklet only shows (in windows) avi. files being used in the effects program.

I'm lost and need help. Is it possible for these programs to work together or not?
And if so, how do I get my stuff from Elements into effects, then back agan once I have added the effect.

    Many thanks in advance.

not familiar with this FX s/w but if it takes AVI files quite happily then consider this as a possible workflow.

Export just the clip/comp you need for effects work as a lossless AVI from Elements. Only export as much (or as little) as you need for the FX shot. Matk in and out points and export that.

Open that small file in your FX app and apply your FX.

Export that, presumably as an AVI to a new file.

import that into Elements and add the the same timeline over the top of the original. Once aligned the join shoul dbe seamless.

This is effectively the same workflow as when using After Effects. (although some shortcuts can be made between the Adobe apps)

I have After Effects 7 Pro and like it very much. However, As much as I do rate AE I have no experience of any other compositing tool so can't really offer any comparisons it that's what you're hinting at.

I've just seen the cost of Abode After effect CS and nearly choked.
I think I'll give my 80 program another shot with your advice.

Muzzle flashes is all I'm looking for right now, though the 'light swords' look interesting...

FX Home (FXhome.com :: Special effects, keying and compositing software) have an excellent website, complete with a large forum. I'm sure that someone there will be able to help you out.
