Thread: Best Monitor setup for Vegas

  1. Default Best Monitor setup for Vegas

OK, a bit of a vague question with lots of possibles ... but here goes.

From your experience and your current setup what would you suggest.

I currently have two 15" TFT screens on my PC. I'm new to VEGAS and this has been fine for a while but my last few projects have proved to be a pain with such small screens.

I was thinking of trying out 2 x 19" Widescreens. Anybody have the same kind of setup? Or what from your experiences would you suggest? 1 x 21" etc etc

    Thanks.

2 19' would work fine, I currently use 1 20' and 1 17' plus a tv monitor to see out put on a standard tv befor i burn to disc.

Personally I wouldn't go for widescreen 19". You'll only get 900pixels in height as opposed to 1024. With your 2 x 15" you're surely running out of space vertically as much as horizontally.

    2 x 15" Monitors gives you 2048 x 768 workspace
    2 x 19" widescreen gives you 2880 x 900
    2 x standard 19" gives you 2560 x 1024

The only reason I can see for wanting 2 x 19" widescreen is if you want to preview full screen in one of them.

    Hi Tim,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes your right, I'm running out of space both directions. Having to adjust windows when I need to do simple changes and its starting to get worse the bigger my projects get as I get more used to Vegas.

As for 19" Widescreens, theres currently some decent prices on Dabs, so I thought I'd take the plunge. But thinking about it more seriously after reading your post, I think 2x19" would be better

    Cheers

Of course, you'll be over the moon for a couple of weeks and then be running out of space again :(

I have 4x19 inch all running at 1600 x 1200 with one as preview, and for me that is just enough.

They were well cheap matching s/h crts. My desk is bending and my electricty meter spins fast.

I would much prefer non widescreen tfts but the price of 1600 x 1200 screens is prohibitive for me.

    Hi Mark,

4 Monitors! no wonder your desk is bending!

I've literally just bought a 19" TFT (cheap) I want two but as it was cheap I thought I'd buy just the one first to check it out.

Saying that, after reading the reviews I shouldnt have any probs. If I dont then I'll get number two straight away. That should sort me.
