Thread: Cut out areas of video.

    Default Cut out areas of video.

    I have a video from an old VHS but i have intererence in a strip along the bottom how do I cut it out from the video?

    How much do you want to spend? Thats one of those questions that can't be answered. What easy for one is hard for someone else, besides every one will recomend the one they use. Personally I like the full vegas 7+dvd producuction suite, others like premiere pro. check out the free trials at the sony and adobe site. I'll go find the comparison chart I posted so you can see the diffrences, other then that it a personal choice.

    You might not need to fix it if this is what you are talking about:

    When working with analoge video there's a rough edge that doesn't show on a television's visible picture. It exists in the overscan area which is a border around the edge of the visible screen.

    Digital video captures the picture cleanly right to the very edge.

    Older televisions can't show the full picture and modern televsions are set not to (even though they can) to cater for still being able to show older content.

    If it turns out this us what you are talking about just leave it there, any rescaling of the picture will lose quality, cropping will still remain in the overscan area and be a waist of time.

    Search about the internet for "overscan" to find out more.
