Default Video Edditing Program - Advice needed pls!!

    Hi there,

    Awesome forum!

Ok my question is: I want to edit videos.. I have been using Camatasia and Windows Movie Maker thus so far, and they have worked a treat.

But now I need to add BLUR effect OVER the video on a particular spot (that may move) i.e. I make a video and want the person to stay Anonymous, so I can blur them out.. I hope I explained that properly.Because the two packages above do not have that feature.

Now the only video package I came across that can do this is:

Premiere Special Effects Blur or Highlight a Moving Face Tutorial

Adobe Premiere -- how there are sooo many versions,I am confused!

Also, I checked out the prices, and they are way expensive!

You guys are the pro's, can you please advice me which package can do the above and the chepest price is also an issue for me.

I await your replies, Takecare and thanks!
    Have a nice day

You can get Premiere elements for $100 and it will do what you want, you'll probally out grow it and want more though, very high learning curve or you can get vegas media studio and do the same thing for the same price but again you'll end up wanting more, fairly easy leaning curve, Pinnacle is also the same price but its a piece of crap that crashes all the time. check out the trials and see what you like.

    Excellent, thanks Chapman Photography.

I'm going to try out the trial versions before I buy then, good Idea.

Hey, Ive seen different Primiere Elements 2, 3, 4 and 5? Are these versions? (i.e 5 is upgraded and does all functions of previous versions)?

    Thanks..

They will be version numbers, yes. Just get the latest version you can find.

I'm not so sure they have a trial version though. Certainly there are trial version of Premiere Pro but not sure if I;ve ever seen one for Elements. Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough though...

i don't have a definitive list of differnces between the Pro and elements versions. Suffice it to say that Elements is the 'lite' version of P-Pro.

If Elements has all you need then get that. It costs about 60 UKP but as mentioned b efore you are likley to out-grow it quite soon. As you say, Pro costs 10x that! the good news lately though is that if you buy Pro nowadays you get Encore and OnLocation bundled in for free making it much bettrer value than this time last year.

if you are looking forward and likely to get into some more advanced thigns then there are other ways of making it cost effective too but I've reeled those off plenty of times before so won't repeat myself here.

Excellent, I have downloaded Sony Vegas Movie Studio and Adobe Premiere 6.0 Trials. I really like Sony Vegas Movie Studio.

I used this tutorial, to blur out face:

But I am stuck now, I want to blur and unblur throughout the video, how do I do that? At the moment the video is blurred throughout it all!

    hmm

Where from? Premeire 6 went out of date over 5 years ago. I would pick up the latest version.

    Adobe Premiere Download - Soft32
