Default How to run a Sony CCD-TR330E through a computer?

Hi, does anyone know how to run a Sony CCD-TR330E through a computer? I have some Hi8 tapes that I would like to transfer to my laptop and then copy onto DVD.

I presume I need a cable....but what sort of cable do I need to do this?

    Thanks, any help gratefully received.

To get it onto a PC you will need some way of digitising the video footage on the tapes.

You could use a dedicated analogue video capture card to do this.

You could use some other dedicated hardware device, such as USB 'dvd creator' solution.

You could even use any DV camcorder that has an analogue to digital pass through feature, assuming your PC has a firewire connection.

But the fastest and easiest way to get your HI8 tapes to DVD is to buy a set-top DVD recorder. That cuts out the PC altogether.

If you only want to copy the tapes onto DVD and do nothing else with them, then either purchase or borrow a bog standard home DVD recorder and connect the camcorder using the S-Video connection and run the audio, I don't know if that Sony model has stereo sound or is mono, so you'll either have one or two audio cables.
