Default How can I convert my .mp4 movie files to a format that will work in Windows Movie Mak

I just shot some video but I can't edit them in Windows Movie Maker because they are in .mp4 format and it doesn't accept that. How can I change the format, and what should I change it to if I want to do it in this program? I really want to use this program b/c it's easy and I know how to use it.
