Thread: No sound?

    Default No sound?

I have been capturing some video from VHS using an AverMedia DVD pci card and uLead video studio 7. The video picture is fine but there is no sound recorded. When I tried other programs The sound was fine but the video quality not as good. Has anyone else had this problem or has anyone any ideas what may be wrong? My system is Win 98se, Athlon 1700+, Hercules Graphics card, On board Avance sound, V266 motherboard with 256meg memory.

Sorry but I don't have Video Studio 7, but in Video Studio 8 you can check the sound settings by

    1. Take the 'File' menu

    2. Select 'Project Properties'

    3. Click the 'Edit' button on the dialogue box

    4. Click the 'Compression' tab

    5. The audio properties can be changed in the bottom part of the dialogue box.

    6. May also be worth checking that you are using the correct capture plug in from the 'Tools' menu.

As I say, I don't know if this is the exact sequence in version 7. In earlier versions of Video Studio such commands were under the Global Perferences button.

However I hope the foregoing is of some use

    good luck!

    Default no sound- thanks

Thanks Pure Jammy. I spoke to the uLead help line and they suggested that since I had tried Pinnacle before uLead, Pinnacle had left Registry entries which may have messed up Video Studio. I wiped my 'C' drive , reinstalled Win 98se and all my other required progs and uLead then captured sound OK. Seems Pinnacle have some nasties in it to discourage us from using other progs!

Well, shock horror, Pinnacle causing problems on a PC. (incidentally we need a emoticon that reflects sarcasm).

Pleased to hear you problem is resolved though.
