Thread: Premiere Pro - Integrated frame/bitmap editing?

  1. #1

Question Premiere Pro - Integrated frame/bitmap editing?

Sometimes I want to draw things on to a sequence of frames in a video. For example, to make lasers shoot from a robot's eyes. Is there a way to integrate bitmap editing with Premiere Pro? In the audio world there are sequencing programs that can shell out to your favorite audio editor and integrate the edited result back in to the main sequence. Is there a way to do this with Premiere Pro? Thanks.

While After Effects is really what you want for this type of stuff, depending on what you want to do there are some things you can do within Premiere it'self.

You can add colour mattes above the video track and use the garbage mattes to make shapes then animate these shapes over the video.

Track mattes can also be used in a similar way.

You can also export the section of video as a filmstrip, open it up in Photoshop, and go from there.

David, I would love to get After Effects but I'm just doing this for fun and it has a bit of a price tag on it. The filmstrip idea sounds perfect. Thanks!
