Thread: Encore DVD 2

  1. Wink Encore DVD 2

I have a 'MAIN' menu which has a 'PLAY ALL' button and a 'CHAPTER' button.

When I press 'PLAY' I play all 4 videos one after another which is set up in the 'END ACTION' box.

On the 'CHAPTER' menu I have 4 buttons linked to 4 videos. On the 'OVERRIDE' box of each video I chose the 'CHAPTER' menu.

However, when I play any of the 4 videos at the end it returns to the 'MAIN' menu.

Can someone tell me why they are not going to the 'CHAPTER' menu.
    Am I doing something wrong.

    Thanks in advance.

My friend, you're doing it wrong. You're attempting to do this the old way i.e. how it would have been done in version 1 and/or 1.5.

In v2 set up a play list and you play-all button will start that. Your individual timelines should all have an end action of the chapter menu (or bvetter still the next button of that menu ready to play the next 'chapter').

No overrides needed at all for this nowadays.

    Thanks Alan.

You are spot on. I am learning fom a free video tutorial on encore 1.5.

    Thanks for the tip.

Can you suggest a good book to buy on encore and premiere pro or any website that has got tutorials on them.

    Thanks again.

Firstly, and most obviously, I would start with the provided manuals. A bit dry I agree and not the best bed-time reading but worth the effort you can put into them in my experience.

In my opinion no obvious 'industry standard' reference or teach yourself books have come to the forefront (unlike for After Effects where everyone in the know seems to refer people to the same books).

I've no personal experience with the Adobe 'classrooom in a book' series but I have heard that some people like them.
I have read an slightly older version of Premiere Pro Studio Techniques (for v1.5) and it seemed to cover pretty much everything so take a look at that.

Other than that I sauggest you spend an hour in a decent bookshop and read the first chapter of a number of books and see which style of writing works best for you.
