Default Capturing video from DVD in Premiere Elements

In Premiere Elements 2.0, is there a way to capture video from a DVD in a computer's internal DVD drive similar to the way video from DV tape is captured via Firewire? We want to take short excerpts from about 12 basketball games which have been transferred to DVD (in one long file on each disc) and cannot afford to take up the necessary hard drive space to use Media Downloader to take all of the video from each DVD. I am disappointed that the program won't controls the internal DVD player the way it controls a DV camcorder and allows the video to be captured via the capture window.
    Thanks.
